Pinealon
EDR Tripeptide (Glu-Asp-Arg)
Overview
Pinealon is a synthetic tripeptide (Glu-Asp-Arg) developed at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology in Russia. It is a bioregulator peptide designed to target brain tissue particularly the pineal gland and has been studied for neuroprotective cognitive enhancement and anti-aging effects in the central nervous system. Like other peptide bioregulators developed by the same institute it is derived from the concept that short peptides derived from specific organs can restore the function of those organs when they decline with age.

Mechanism of Action
Pinealon penetrates the blood-brain barrier and interacts directly with neuronal DNA acting as a gene expression regulator. It binds to specific DNA sequences and modulates the transcription of genes involved in antioxidant defense melatonin synthesis and neuroprotection. In aging brain tissue where gene expression patterns shift unfavorably Pinealon is theorized to restore more youthful patterns of neuronal activity. It has shown antioxidant effects in neural tissue reduces lipid peroxidation and promotes the survival of neurons under oxidative stress conditions. Animal studies have demonstrated improvements in learning memory and circadian rhythm regulation. The peptide also appears to support pineal gland melatonin production which declines significantly with age.
